Two millimetre figures decide a robot mop: how high the mop lifts over carpet (10.5–22 mm here) and how tall a threshold it climbs (21–88 mm).
Roborock Saros Z7022 mm mop lift, the highest of the eight compared, and an arm that moves socks off the floor.
The catch: Lowest published suction figure in this comparison, and it is rarely sold near its $2,599 list price.
Dreame Aqua10 Ultra RollerA self-rinsing roller at 11 N, with a cover that closes on carpet.
The catch: 14 mm lift alone will not clear plush pile — the cover does the work.
Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete89% carpet deep-clean and an 88 mm threshold climb, both measured by Vacuum Wars.
The catch: Below-average navigation efficiency in Vacuum Wars’ testing.
Prices and ratings: Amazon, checked 2026-09-06.

The shaded bands are typical pile heights. A bar that ends inside a band means the mop is level with those fibres — it will touch them. Hatched bars have a cover as well as a lift; grey text means the maker gives no figure.
Pile bands are a scale, not a claim about any carpet: measure yours with a ruler pushed to the backing. Lift figures are maker specifications except the Dreame X60, which is Vacuum Wars’ measurement.
TakeawayMedium-pile carpet needs 20 mm of lift or a physical cover: that is the Z70, the X60, and the covered rollers (Aqua10, Roomba). The Narwal and the eufy are hard-floor machines whatever the box says. → Roborock Saros Z70 · check price
Same idea. Light bar is the single-step rating, dark bar the double-layer rating (a rug lying over a saddle). Bands are typical heights in US homes; measure your tallest one.
A robot that cannot climb a threshold does not fail loudly — it maps the room on the far side as unreachable and you stop noticing it is never cleaned. Ratings are maker figures; the X60 figure is also the one Vacuum Wars measured.
TakeawayA standard door saddle (12–20 mm) is fine for all but the eufy. A rug lying over a saddle (25–40 mm) needs the Roborocks, the Dreames or the Narwal; only the X60 (88 mm) treats a patio sill as a non-event. → Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete · check price
Uses the published figures in the table. “Clears by 3 mm or more” is our margin; makers do not state one. Nothing is pre-filled — the numbers have to be yours.
Push a ruler through the pile to the backing. Under 10 mm, everything here clears it. 10–13 mm, you want 20 mm of lift or a cover. Plush pile: only the Z70 and X60 clear it on lift alone.
Standard door saddles are 12–20 mm — fine for all but the eufy. A rug over a saddle, or a patio sill, is 25–45 mm: that rules out half the page and leaves the Roborocks, the Dreames, the Narwal and (single-layer) the ECOVACS.
Hard floors with real messes: roller (Aqua10, Flow 2, X11, Roomba, eufy). Mostly carpet with light mopping: pads are fine and lift higher (Z70, X60, Saros 20).
Bags are a running cost and a thing to remember. The ECOVACS cyclone and Narwal’s reusable bin avoid them; everything else takes bags.
19,500 to 36,000 Pa across these eight. Neither extreme is one of our picks — and the robot with the highest figure is one whose maker will not print its mop-lift height, which is the number that decides carpet.
Short version: carpet → Roborock Saros Z70 · hard floors → Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller · thresholds → Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete
Lift height beats suction. Look for ≥20 mm, or a physical mop cover.

22 mm mop lift, the highest of the eight compared, and an arm that moves socks off the floor.
Buy this if: Carpet everywhere, some clutter, and you want the mop to stay dry on the rugs.
The catchLowest published suction figure in this comparison, and it is rarely sold near its $2,599 list price.
22 mm is the highest mop lift in the group, and the AdaptiLift chassis raises the whole body over 40 mm thresholds. The OmniGrip arm that picks up socks is the headline; the lift figure is why it belongs in a carpeted house.

89% carpet deep-clean and an 88 mm threshold climb, both measured by Vacuum Wars.
Buy this if: Carpet plus a house full of thresholds, and you want test data rather than spec-sheet numbers.
The catchBelow-average navigation efficiency in Vacuum Wars’ testing.
The one with independent numbers behind it: 89% carpet deep-clean, 22 of 24 obstacles avoided, 21.5 mm measured mop lift and an 88 mm climb — the highest here by a wide margin. Vacuum Wars ranks it first above $1,600.

Roller mops with hot-water washing out-scrub spinning pads; lift height barely matters.

A self-rinsing roller at 11 N, with a cover that closes on carpet.
Buy this if: Hard floors, sticky kitchen messes, and you would rather the mop cleaned itself mid-run.
The catch14 mm lift alone will not clear plush pile — the cover does the work.
A roller that rinses and squeegees itself as it goes, pressing at 11 N, with a counter-rotating roller to stop matting. Lift is only 14 mm, but an AutoSeal cover closes over the roller on carpet.

Track mop with heated water and a 120-day bagless bin.
Buy this if: Almost no carpet and you want the strongest scrubbing per pass.
The catch12 mm lift means hard floors only; 3.9 stars on Amazon.
A tank-track mop that washes itself with heated water while it scrubs, and a dock that goes up to 120 days without a bag. 12 mm lift is the lowest on the page — this is a hard-floor machine.

No bags, ever: a 60-day cyclone dock and a roller washed at 167°F.
Buy this if: Hard floors and you hate buying consumables.
The catchMop-lift height not published.
The only bagless dock here — a cyclone bin you empty every couple of months instead of buying bags — plus a roller mop washed at 167°F and dried at 145°F. ECOVACS says the roller lifts on carpet but does not publish the height, so that cell is blank.

A roller mop with a physical carpet cover, from the brand with the longest support history.
Buy this if: You already run iRobot and want the mop to stop wetting the rugs.
The catchiRobot publishes no suction, lift or threshold figures.
iRobot's answer to the roller-mop wave: a continuously washed roller and a retractable cover that closes over it on carpet. iRobot publishes almost no numbers — no Pa, no lift, no threshold — so the table is mostly blank and that is a fact about the product, not about us.

Threshold figures run from 21 mm to 88 mm — a 4× spread. The X60 (88 mm, in the carpet section) and the Saros 20 (45 + 43 mm) are the climbers.

36,000 Pa and a 45 + 43 mm double-layer climb.
Buy this if: Thresholds and rugs everywhere, and you prefer Roborock's app and pads to a roller.
The catchMop-lift height not published; spinning pads, not a roller.
Roborock's high-volume flagship: 36,000 Pa, 212°F mop washing, and an AdaptiLift 3.0 chassis rated for a 45 mm + 43 mm double-layer threshold. Roborock does not print the mop-lift height for this model on the page we checked, so that cell is blank.

A roller mop with a self-cleaning dock for well under $1,000.
Buy this if: Flat apartment, hard floors, and the budget ends well under $1,000.
The catch10.5 mm lift and a 21 mm threshold — the lowest figures here.
Included as the price floor for a roller mop with a self-cleaning dock — and as the warning: 10.5 mm lift and a 21 mm threshold are the lowest numbers on the page. In a flat, hard-floor apartment that does not matter; in the houses above it does.

Flagship robots are the most discounted category in November, and the discounts start from list prices these rarely sell at: the Saros Z70 lists at $2,599 and its Amazon listing on 2026-09-06 showed $1,700. Decide the model on the two millimetre figures now, then buy on price. The links show the live number.
We did not run cleaning tests; where we quote measured results (carpet deep-clean, obstacles, lift) they are Vacuum Wars’ — their X60 Max Ultra Complete review and premium-tier ranking — and we say so. Specifications come from maker pages and Amazon listing titles checked September 2026. Where a maker does not publish a figure we left the cell blank rather than copy a number from a retailer or a forum.
Roborock (10–13%) and Dreame (10%) pay us a commission when you buy through our tagged links. Narwal, ECOVACS, iRobot and eufy pay us nothing today; we link to their Amazon listings anyway. All three of our picks are Roborock or Dreame, which pay us — so read the Narwal and ECOVACS cards, where we have said exactly where they win, before taking our word for it.
